I had my first tank of African chiclids 6 years ago. And I had a 2 feet long silver arowana but it jumped out of the tank when I was out of town 1 year ago and it tells me "Don't to have an arowana until you get a 400 gallon tank. LOL...
I started my discus tank about half year ago under my best friend Ethan Chen's influence. I had couple fish dead in the first couple weeks and I find it is really tough to have a healthy discus tank. I learned a lot from other online resources but most of them are Chinese websites. I feel other hobbyists in the United States or Canada should have the same difficulties as me and that is why I started this community for fish hobbyists. I am going to open more forums for other fish like arowana, pletco in near future.
As you may realize that I am running couple other free fish sites: http://www.finddiscus.com and http://www.findarowana.com, both are free for hobbyists to sell or buy fish online. A "Fish Ebay"? :-) And, both sites do offer breeders or fish stores to open their own online stores as well, I got good feedbacks from several breeders as they told me it is a pain that non of the e-commerce package supports "LIVE FISH SHIPPING". As an IT guy, I coded this "LIVE FISH SHIPPING" module in my FindDiscus.com site. And all shippings are automatically calculated by both live and unlive shipping mehtodologies!
